East Mecklenburg 24
On Tuesday
night the Bandys wrestling team traveled to Charlotte to match up with
the Eagles of East Meckleburg. After coming off of their big tournament
win last weekend several of the Trojan started the matches off slow but
in the end they posted good scores. Bandys scored six pins, two major decisions
and a decision to defeat East Mecklenburg 47 - 24. The dual meet featured
several match ups between state qualifiers from last season. At 135lbs
East Mecklenburgs state qualifier Mike Roberts scored a 6-3 decision over
Bandys two-time state placer Matt Stogner. In the 152lbs match East Mecklenburg's
state qualifier Philip Davis had a one point lead over Bandys two-time
state champion Byron Sigmon after the first period. Sigmon went on to score
16 points in the last two periods for a 20-8 major decision. At 189lbs
Bandys' Markley Morrison showed why he is Bandys most improved wrestler
so far this season. Morrison defeated East Mecklenburg state qualifier
Brian Cirulis 9-7. The dual meet was the first of the year for both teams.
On Saturday Bandys will travel to North Wilkes for the annual Viking Dual
