On Saturday the Bandys wrestling team won their second tournament in as many weeks by sweeping the North Wilkes Viking Duals. The tournament featured eight teams wrestling in a dual team format. The Trojans won all five of their matches to claim the tournament championship. Michael Styer, Matt Stogner, Byron Sigmon, and William Gilleand all finished with 5-0 records for the day. Patrick McIntosh (4-0) and Colt Howell (3-0) also finished undefeated. Five other Trojan wrestlers fished the tournament with 4-1 records. They were Jordan Armstrong, Ryan White, Matt Smith, Markley Morrison, and Anthony Morrison. William Gilleland (160lbs) won the best match-up of the day when he bumped up a weight class and won a 10-6 decision over Dylan Godfey (171lbs) of St. Stephens. Last season Gilleland was a state runner-up and Godfrey was a state third place winner. Bandys' Byron Sigmon was voted by the coaches as the tournaments Most Outstanding Wrestler. Sigmon pinned all five of his opponents in a combined time of eight minutes and fifty-nine seconds.

Four Bandys wrestlers have reached mile stones in their wrestling careers the past two weekends. Seniors William Gilleland and Byron Sigmon have now won over 150 matches. As of Saturday Gilleland has improved his career record to (158-19). Sigmon has improved his to (153-6). Junior Patrick McIntosh eclisped his 100 match win Saturday and is now (102-24) for his career. Senior Matt Stogner also won his 100th match Saturday. Stogner is now (100-36) while wrestling for Bandys.

On Tuesday Bandys (6-0) will travel to Charlotte for a dual meet with Hopewell High School. Preliminary matches will begin at 6:30pm.
