March 2, 1996 A USA Wrestling Association sanctioned event

The North Carolina Invitational Challenge, sponsored by the Triad Wrestling Club, Blue and White Booster Club of High Point Central, and sanctioned by USA Wrestling, is an opportunity to showcase the best North Carolina high school wrestlers in a challenge of champions. This year's contests to be held at High Point Central High School will include a preliminary dual meet between the North Carolina 2A Champions and the 4A Champions followed by the feature match between the winner of the preliminary dual and 3A champs. Information about the challenges will be sent to regional college and university wrestling coaches as well as the media.

Saturday, March 2
High Point Central Gymnasium, Ferndale St.
High Point, NC
7:00 pm - 2A Champs vs. 4A Champs
8:30 pm - winner of 7:00 dual vs. 3A Champs

Participation/registration: Participation is by invitation only. Individuals will be invited based on their finish in the North Carolina State High School Wrestling Tournament. Wrestlers invited will need to make a commitment at that time. First invitations will be extended to the state champions, if they decline, the invitation will be extended to the next highest place finisher.

Rules: Folkstyle with three - 2 minute periods

Entry Fee: $20 made payable to Blue/White Club and submitted with registration on Februasry 24 in Charlotte. All participants must hold a current USA Wrestling Card. Cards can be purchased at the event for $20.

Weight Classes: High school weight classes plus 5 lb. allowance

Uniform:

Awards: Specially designed T-shirts for all competitors and medals for 1st place wrestlers.

Coaches:

Hospitality Room: 6:00-7:00 pm for coaches. Immediately following second match for coaches and wrestlers.
