Warriors trounce E. Guilford

GIBSONVILLE - Western Alamance plummeted host Eastern Guilford 60-15 in
a Mid-State Conference wrestling meet Tuesday night.
Rudy Mitchell remained unbeaten at 24-0 at the 130-pound weight class.
Jason Vaughn of Western Alamance (17-2 overall, 4-1 Mid-State) in the
135 weight class pinned his opponent in the second period. Jeff Davis of
Western picked up the quickest pin with a 28-second fall at heavyweight.
"We did a pretty good job," Western Alamance coach Gary Westbrooks said.
"I am proud of the guys. They showed a lot of heart. Patrick Manning at
the 145 weight class won his first career match as a Warrior. We are
just getting ready for the individual conference tournament that takes
place on Saturday."
REIDSVILLE 54, EASTERN ALAMANCE 30:
At Reidsville, Eastern Alamance didn't pick up the Mid-State Conference
victory, but had some good performances.
"I am very proud of them," Eastern Alamance coach Glen Terrell said.
"The kids that got beat wrestled well and I am proud of them for that."
Adam Ray, 125-pounder, posted the quickest pin of the night in 35
seconds for Eastern Alamance. At 130, Jimmy Zint of Eastern Alamance
registered a pin.
"We gave up 42 points on forfeits," Terrell added. "Overall, I see an
improvement in the team."
