AAU Junior Olympics

Team North Carolina places 12th.
Earning All-American status for NC were Jermey McKinney(6th), Gavin Proctor (2nd), Lewis Polley (4th) and Danny Misenheimer (5th). Also placing in the individual tournament were Carlos Garcia (10th) and Jeremiah Pilarski (9th).

McIntosh competes on World Team

Sean McIntoshof Sherrills Ford (Bandys HS) competed in Poland August 5-7 as a member of the USA FILA Cadet World Team, and was 1-2. He won his first match against France with a 1st period pin. He then lost 10-0 against a Ukranian wrestler who placed 2nd, and lost against Greece 7-3. Congratulations and thanks to Sean for representing the USA and North Carolina in international competition.


1999 USAW Cadet/Junior National Championships

Congratulations to Joel Brown of Hoggard High School. He became North Carolina's 10th ever Cadet Freestyle All American, placing 8th. Congratulations and thanks also to all our National Team members - you represented North Carolina very well. Complete results from Team NC are posted on the NCUSAW website.

NHSCA National Open Wrestling Championships

Birmingham, AL. Pisgah's Bryan Hill makes the finals, finishes in 2nd place!!! Other NC wrestlers who placed in the High School Division include: Brandon Gates, West Henderson (6th), Greg Kinner, Avery County (8th),Lyle Roberson, Tuscola (7th), and Randy Corpuz, Sanderson (3rd). Disney Duals

Team North Carolina All-Stars finished 4th! Team NC beat two teams from Nebraska, as well as teams from Lima, Ohio, Team Montana, Team Iowa, and two teams from Florida. The overall record for NC was 8-3. The losses were to the 1st place team (Team South Dakota), 2nd place team (Team Ohio All-stars) and JAWS (3rd who were from Michigan).

Jermaine Hodge went undefeated (11 matches with either tech -falls or pins, and was UNANIMOUSLY voted Most Outstanding Technical Wrestler).

Jordan Binder from Currituck High School also went undefeated with 10 matches, and received a gold medal.
