The Takedown Report

Promoting wrestling in Eastern North Carolina
The TakeDown Report (TDR) is in the 12th year of publication in eastern North Carolina reporting wrestling results and encouraging media coverage. We seek to increase the number of schools and athletes competing in wrestling in North Carolina. Our coverage area is the counties east of Raleigh and Fayetteville as many schools in this area lack wrestling as an opportunity for their students. We challenge those schools to start or re-start the sport.
The TDR Top 12 Rankings are of the top 12 scholastic wrestlers in each weight class in this coverage area. Wrestlers and teams of all divisions are ranked together as they compete often with each other. The TDR Carolinas Colleges Rankings are of the 16 teams (so far) in the Carolinas with wrestling and the top 84 individual wrestlers. Wrestlers ranked on the final lists are awarded TDR certificates and the top wrestlers are awarded an individualized engraved wooden plaque. The names of ranked high school wrestlers are printed on a shirt for sale after each season. The TDR also sponsors four big awards for the top senior scholastic, top underclassmen in eastern N.C., top senior in N.E.W. counties area and a top sportsmanship award. They are named in honor of James Johnson, Roy Heverly, Michael Stokes and Lee Carroll.
We started publishing the TDR in 1987 in Northeast Ohio to promote and increase media coverage of scholastic and collegiate wrestling in that area for 4 seasons.
We have sponsored events since the first Fat Old Men (F.O.M.) tournament in 1984 in Nebraska and the USA-CUBA World Dual in Akron, Ohio in 1990 and numerous tournaments in recent years. Contact the TDR at tdr@tarboronc.com.
